5th Day of Lent, ‘25

(An excerpt)

Come, Lord Jesus.

Cheap imitations of your love and grace tempt us all around, promising satisfaction, yet lacking in any true value.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Even if we gorge ourselves on false foods, we still find ourselves empty. Empty, and sick.

Have mercy upon us Lord, have mercy.

You are the bread of life. With you, I shall never know hunger again.

Come Lord Jesus.

Good bread takes time.
Good bread takes good ingredients.
Good bread takes strong hands.
Good bread takes a beating.
Good bread takes rest.
Good bread takes heat.
Good bread takes attention.
Good bread is worth it.

Savor the Good Bread.
It is a gift. A good gift. A costly gift.

The pantry sure seems bountiful when I’m hungry.
