7th Day of Lent

(An Exerpt)

It struck me that the Israelites were THIRSTY when they complained to Moses. Then Moses to God. Then God opened the rock.

I’m not saying we should complain.

I’m saying God let them feel thirst.

Why?

So they would seek Him?
So they would cry out to Him?

But they complained…
…to Moses.

Is there a difference between crying out to God and complaining?

Yes! Surely there is!

Crying out to God – think Psalms!
Complaining – think KIDS.

AH! Maturity!

Crying out to God is mature faith.
Complaining is immature faith.

We condemn Israel so easily for complaining. Yet God LET THEM FEEL THIRST.

To test their faith.
To cause them to grow.
To build maturity in them.

Lord, help me cry out and not complain.
Teach me your ways.
Hasten to help me, O Lord.
