All of the Babies

All of the babies, big-cheeked and wrinkled,
Mothers abide on cloud-nine,
All of the birth stories sweet and joy-sprinkled,
All of the babies but mine.

All of the cuddles, the snuggles, the nuzzles,
Fathers as proud as a pine,
Siblings welcome this new piece of their puzzle,
All of the babies but mine.

All of the sniffles, the whimpers, the giggles,
New baby scent so sublime,
All of the stretches, the kicks, and the wiggles,
All of the babies but mine.

All of the prayers, dedications, baptisms,
One week, month, year in a line,
New life shines forth just like rainbows from prisms,
All of the babies but mine.

It’s not that I’m bitter, not angry, not jealous,
I’ll send forth my praises with thine.
New life is ever worth us to be zealous of,
I just miss that new baby of mine,

I so dearly miss that sweet baby of mine
